  • I seriously can't thank you enough for such a lovely tattoo experience, AND how thouroughly you go into aftercare information, truly taking all anxieties from getting/healing a tattoo. I actually can't remember the last artist to go over it with me— they just assume I know what I'm doing because I have tattoos already. Also— I can't stop thinking about how amazing of a first tattoo experience your clients before me had. All my tattoo experiences have been so stressful with abrasive men and loud overbearing music and all of the sensory overload you could think of. Your shop, and your energy was a complete 180 from that and a breath of fresh air.

  • For my 85th birthday, two of my grandsons gifted me a tattoo. There was only one image I wanted— a delicately elegant Blue Heron. Not all artists can do this kind of finely detailed work, but knowing James, I trusted that he could— and he did, beautifully! I love wearing my "totem creature" on my right forearm as a permanent piece of elegant jewelry. Thank you, James! And if I make it to 90, I may try another.

  • I just had the most phenomenal tattoo experience with James. He worked with Harper [my child] to bring their vision to life, and they both created an incredible homage to my dog Havarti (a lass of almost 15), my love for her, and my love for boygenius. I feel so lucky that I get to have Havarti on me for the rest of my days— and that James made the whole experience delightful from start to finish! His energy is to positive and supportive, his hand is so sure and gentle, and I felt welcome every moment I was in his space at Gilded Serpent. If you have any inclination toward getting a tattoo and collaborating on a vision, James is your man!

  • I got my first tattoo with James !! I was nervous at first but he was super nice and easy to talk to and it was a great experience. He made sure I was completely satisfied with the stencil size and placement, comfortable throughout the inking process, and happy with the result (which I very much am!!), and made sure I was all set on aftercare. I was being quite picky about what I wanted for my first tattoo and the artist who did it, and James delivered exactly what I wanted ^_^ totally worth the long drive I took lol and I plan to make it again to get more done by him in the future. Love his style and vibe and I cannot recommend enough; very lovely studio with lovely people.
